Sketchy Sunday #24

IMG_0259

The sketch this week over at Traci Reed Designs is one that showcases two square photos.  The placement of the paper layers in a vertical over on the one side also gives the sketch a really clean and uncluttered feel.  I knew that I wanted to use patterned paper for the background as soon as I saw the sketch but was unsure which collection to go for.

My photo stream is currently FULL of photos from my daughter's prom and I knew I wanted to start telling the stories of that experience straight away.  We had so much fun while she was getting ready as I took photos of each step in the journey which I edited as black and white for that softer look.

I quickly cropped the first two to square and pulled out my basket of pre-printed collections.  Having the photos as black and white made it really easy to work with any of Traci's collections as I straight away had no colour clashes or compliments to worry about.

Instead I decided to go with sentiments. Prom has been such a big thing in her mind for so long now, that the Dreamer sentiment's in the freebie collection "Beautiful Dreamer" made that the perfect choice.

As she is a girl who loves pink I quickly opted for that gorgeous pink as my background paper. I followed the sketch very closely with my layout.  More closely than I have for a while.  It just came together so easily. That is one of the things I LOVE about working with one of Traci's sketches - it takes alot of the choices and deliberations away (if I want it to).  It also is just an inspiration point if I decide I want to go really 'off' sketch!!!

I'm so happy with how this one turned out, and I apologise in advance for all of the prom photos to come in my future projects!!! Proud Momma alert!!
