WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

Hypnotherapy combines 'talking therapy' with the deep natural state of hypnosis.

Hypnotherapy is client lead. It is a collaboration between therapist and client in which, through a deeply relaxed state (hypnosis), we work together to create new behaviours and thought patterns which replace old unwanted habits or thoughts. The Hypnotherapist is a temporary advocate between the client's conscious and unconscious mind.  Hypnosis is a state of mind enhanced by physical and mental relaxation, in which the subconscious mind is able to communicate with the conscious mind. This is done to encourage the beneficial changes highlighted during the solution focused coaching at the start of a session.

Reduce Anxiety & Stress

Anxiety is what we feel when we are worried, tense or afraid – particularly about things that are about to happen, or which we think could happen in the future.

Anxiety is a natural human response when we feel that we are under threat. It can be experienced through our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations.  Anxiety can become a mental health problem if it impacts your ability to live your life as fully as you want to.

Hypnotherapy will help your subconscious mind to view the triggers of your anxiety from a different perspective.  It will empower you to uncover new, more healthy responses and behaviours that will free you from the grip that anxiety can hold you in.

Low self-esteem or self confidence can cause you to hide away from social situations, stop trying new things, and avoid things you find challenging.

In the short term this avoidance might make you feel safe.  In the longer term, this can backfire as it reinforces your underlying doubts and fears. It teaches you the unhelpful rule that the only way to cope is by avoiding things.

A phobia is a persistent fear of an object, place, situation, or animal. A person affected by an intense fear or phobia will go to great lengths to avoid the object of their fear.  This avoidance will typically be extreme when compared to the actual danger posed and impacts on the individual's whole life.

We are only born with two fears - the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises.  All other fears are learned.  Hypnotherapy can help you discover the reasons behind your fears and support you to unlearn these unwanted thought patterns and behaviours.
